1. General information only
Everything on this website is general information about Reddit, its rules and processes, and related law and practice. It is written to help you understand your options. It is not tailored to your circumstances, and it may not be complete or current. You should not treat it as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional.
2. We are not a law firm
Joe Loya and this business are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice. Using this site, submitting a case or working with us does not create a lawyer-client relationship, and communications with us are not protected by attorney-client privilege. Laws differ from place to place and change over time. If your situation may involve defamation, privacy, harassment, securities, consumer protection, copyright or another legal question, or if you are considering legal action, consult a qualified lawyer in your area. Where we think a matter needs legal advice, we will tell you.
3. Independent from Reddit
Joe Loya is an independent business. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or in partnership with Reddit, Inc., or with any subreddit or community on Reddit. Nothing on this site is a statement by Reddit, or a sign that Reddit approves our services.
We have no special channel to Reddit, its staff or its moderators, and no influence over their decisions. We work through Reddit's public reporting and appeal routes and the moderator tools communities provide, together with our own methods and experience, and we prepare every request carefully.
4. No guarantee of results
We work to pursue the removal or resolution you ask for. We cannot and do not guarantee any result. Reddit, community moderators and other third parties make the final decision, using their own rules and discretion, and they can change or reverse decisions. Honest criticism and opinion are often allowed to stay, and some requests have no valid basis.
Our pay-after-removal fee arrangement, described on the Fees and Payment page, means you pay for the result and not for the attempt. It is a payment arrangement and not a promise that a result will be achieved.
5. Timing
Figures such as our average case assessment time of 24 to 48 hours are averages across past cases. They are not a promise about your case. How long a request takes once it is filed depends on Reddit, its moderators and the route used.
6. Statistics and sources
We quote figures and rules from named sources, such as Reddit's transparency reports and Reddit Rules, government agencies and court opinions, and we link to them. Those sources update their figures and policies, so newer information may exist at the source. We summarise sources in our own words and cannot promise our summaries are free of error. Check the original before relying on a figure or a rule.
7. Case examples and public cases
The real public cases on this site, such as incidents reported by news organisations or by Reddit, are included to show how removal and enforcement work in practice. They are not our clients' cases, and they do not imply that the people or companies involved endorse us. Other examples are illustrations. Past events do not predict the outcome of any case.
8. Client reviews
The reviews on this site come from real clients and are published with their permission. They describe those clients' own experiences. They are not a guarantee or prediction of what you will experience, and individual results vary because every case, community and decision maker is different. Reviews are shown in the clients' own words.
9. Third parties and links
Reddit, its moderators and other sites we link to are independent of us. We are not responsible for their content, policies, decisions or availability. A link does not mean we endorse the site it leads to.
10. Reddit's policies and trademarks
Reddit's own policies and terms govern what you and we may do on the platform. Where this site summarises them, the original text controls. The main ones are the Reddit Rules, the Moderator Code of Conduct and Reddit's privacy policy, published by Reddit, Inc., and we link to them on the pages that use them.
"Reddit", the Reddit logo, the alien mascot and the names of communities are trademarks or property of their respective owners. We use the name "Reddit" and subreddit names only to describe the platform and the communities our services concern, in the way needed to describe them accurately. We do not use the Reddit logo or mascot, and we do not suggest any connection to Reddit, Inc.
11. Risks you should understand
- A removed item keeps its web address. Reddit does not delete pages or show "page not found" for removed content. It shows a removal notice, such as "[removed]", "Removed by moderator", "Removed by Reddit's filters" or "Removed by legal team". A banned community shows a banned notice, and a banned user's profile stays online with the username shown as "[deleted]".
- Reporting or discussing content can draw more attention to it. We weigh this when we advise you on the route.
- Content can be copied, quoted or reposted elsewhere before or after removal, including on sites we cannot reach.
- Search engines may keep showing a removed page for a while, until they refresh their results.
- A request made without a valid basis can fail and may make later requests harder.
12. Regulated and sensitive matters
Some matters are regulated or carry particular risk, such as securities and investing, health, employment, financial advice, consumer protection and child safety. Nothing on this site is investment, financial, medical or regulatory advice. We do not help anyone remove content in order to conceal wrongdoing, to obstruct an investigation or legal process, or to hide a risk to someone's safety. If you think a crime has been committed or someone is in danger, contact the police or the appropriate authority.
13. Information about people and companies
This site discusses, in general terms, the kinds of content people post about individuals and businesses. We do not judge whether any particular post about a person or company is true or false, and nothing here is a statement about any real person or business. When we assess a case, we look at whether the content breaks a rule or a legal standard, not at whether we like or agree with it.
14. Reddit changes
Reddit and its communities change their rules, tools, enforcement and reporting processes, sometimes without notice. A route that worked before may stop working, and a new one may appear. We keep the site under review but cannot promise it reflects the latest change, and we adapt each case to the rules that apply when the request is made.
15. Limits of our responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from relying on the information on this site, or from decisions made by Reddit, moderators or other third parties. The Terms of Use and the Client Agreement set out our responsibilities in full. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
16. For Reddit, Inc. and rights holders
If you represent Reddit, Inc. or a community and have a concern about how this site uses a name or describes a policy, please write to legal@joeloya.com and we will respond promptly.
17. Updates and contact
We may update this disclaimer. The "last updated" date shows the current version. Legal questions: legal@joeloya.com.
